The Ebb & The Flow

documentary

Project Overview

‘The Ebb & Flow’ is a short documentary portrait we created featuring landscape painter Terry Gill. The film focuses on how Terry discovered painting and the impact that finding his passion had on his life. Terry's artwork displays an incredible connection to the wilderness and strengthens the notion that you can start something new at any point in your life.

Director’s note

I first met Terry when we were sharing studio space at an artist co-op. I was actually introduced to his work before meeting him in person and was drawn to how unique and masterful his paintings were. After getting to know Terry a little better, I wanted to dig deeper to find out where the energy and soul that is so present in his work developed from.

As we got to know each other, Terry opened up to me about his past, including the struggles he’s experienced in his life, and how discovering painting saved him. For me, Terry’s story is a strong example of how important it is for us to embrace curiosity throughout our lives and chase our passions.
